Port Canaveral is located in Brevard County on Florida's Space Coast, just south of the Kennedy Space Center. It is one of the world's busiest cruise ports and serves mainly as a turnaround port, with most cruises beginning and ending here, although some ships also visit as a port of call. Alongside its cruise business, the port also handles cargo and supports naval operations, making it an important part of Florida's coastline.

The port has seven modern cruise terminals used by several major cruise lines. Cruise Terminal 8 is a dedicated facility for Disney Cruise Line, while nearby Cruise Terminal 10 also serves Disney ships. Other terminals are used by cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line. Each terminal has passenger drop off areas, luggage handling facilities and porters to help make embarkation straightforward.

One of Port Canaveral's biggest advantages is its location. Orlando is around an hour away by road, making it easy to combine a cruise with time at the city's famous theme parks. The Kennedy Space Center is only a short distance from the port and offers an in depth look at the history of American space exploration, including rockets, spacecraft and interactive exhibits. Nearby Cocoa Beach is well known for its wide sandy shoreline and surfing, while Canaveral National Seashore provides a quieter stretch of protected coastline with natural beaches and wildlife.

Cruise operations first arrived at Port Canaveral during the 1960s, although growth was slow after an early setback when one of the first cruise ships using the port was lost to fire. From the 1980s onwards, the port expanded rapidly and developed into one of the world's leading cruise hubs, welcoming millions of passengers each year.

The climate is warm throughout the year. Summers are typically hot and humid with frequent afternoon showers, while winters are generally mild and comfortable, making the area suitable for outdoor activities in every season.

Whether visitors are interested in space exploration, relaxing on the beach or extending their holiday with time in Orlando, Port Canaveral offers plenty to see before or after a cruise, alongside modern facilities that make it one of Florida's most popular departure ports.
