About Coco Cay
Coco Cay, officially known as Little Stirrup Cay, is one of the Berry Islands, roughly 55 miles north of Nassau in the Bahamas. It is leased and used exclusively by Royal Caribbean Group for its cruise ships, making it a private destination rather than a traditional port of call with a town ashore. The island itself is small, less than a mile from east to west, but it has been transformed into a major cruise stop.
In 2019, Royal Caribbean completed an extensive renovation costing 250 million dollars and relaunched the island as Perfect Day at CocoCay. A covered pier allows ships to dock directly rather than relying on tenders, and it is built to handle Royal Caribbean's largest Oasis class vessels.
The island is laid out in zones to suit different moods. Chill Island offers serene white sand beaches and calm, clear waters for guests who want to rest and disconnect, and its surrounding reefs make it one of the better spots on the island for snorkeling. Thrill Waterpark is the pick for anyone after activity, with obstacle courses, one of the Caribbean's biggest wave pools, and one of the tallest water slides in North America. Oasis Lagoon, meanwhile, is the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean.
Entry to Perfect Day at CocoCay is complimentary for Royal Caribbean guests, along with unlimited dining at five island food spots and free access to five stretches of white sand beach, complete with umbrellas, chairs and towels. For a more upscale stay, the Overwater Cabanas, the Caribbean's first of their kind, come with overwater hammocks and private slides straight into the sea, while Coco Beach Club offers elevated dining and an adults only area away from the main crowds. Most of the island's main features, including the beaches, pools and basic dining, are included in the cruise fare.
Coco Cay suits everyone from families with young children to adults after a bit of relaxation or a dose of adrenaline.
