Jewel of the Seas is a Radiance class cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean. She entered service in 2004 and carries around 2,500 passengers, placing her in the mid sized category. Built at Meyer Werft in Germany, she was the fourth and final ship in the Radiance class.
The Centrum Atrium forms the social centre of the ship, with the Lobby Bar providing a popular meeting place that becomes a setting for dancing after dinner. The three deck Coral Theater hosts production shows and other entertainment, while the Solarium offers an adults only area with its own pool and café bar. The ship also features a 40 foot Rock Climbing Wall, giving guests a chance to climb above the pool deck and take in views from higher up. Movies can be shown outdoors on the pool deck in the evening.
Dining includes complimentary meals in the Windjammer and Main Dining Room, with the Windjammer serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a relaxed setting. Guests looking for a speciality meal can choose Chops Grille for steaks, Giovanni's for Italian dishes or Izumi for Japanese and other Asian flavours. Vintages provides a place for wine tastings, while Casino Royale adds another evening option.
Entertainment has a strong theatrical focus, with the Main Theater hosting productions accompanied by a live orchestra. Shows include West End to Broadway, City of Dreams and Tango Buenos Aires. Elsewhere, guests can play mini golf or enjoy the waterslide, while two swimming pools, three Jacuzzis and the health spa and fitness centre provide quieter alternatives. Adventure Ocean offers activities for younger guests.
Jewel of the Seas suits families, couples and travellers who prefer a mid sized ship with a mixture of entertainment, dining and activities without the scale of the newest mega ships. Her central atrium, varied venues and range of quieter spaces make it easy to move between social areas and more relaxed parts of the ship.
