Island Princess is a Coral-class cruise ship for the Princess Cruises line. She debuted in 2003 and was named by Olympic gold medalists Jamie Salé and David Pelletier. She carries 2,200 guests across 11 decks and is classified as mid-sized. She was constructed at Chantiers de l'Atlantique in France. She is the sister ship to Coral Princess and together they are the only Panamax ships in Princess's fleet. Island Princess was custom-built to sail through the Panama Canal.
The ship's design reflects her purpose as a canal transit vessel, yet still offers the expansive amenities expected of a larger ocean liner. Two main dining rooms, Provence and Bordeaux, offer flexible seating options alongside specialty options like Sabatini's Italian trattoria and the Bayou Café, which serves New Orleans-inspired Cajun and Creole cuisine. Additional casual spots include a poolside hamburger grill, a freshly baked pizza counter, and an ice cream bar. Mainstage productions take place in the multi-level Princess Theater, while evening entertainment spans a Parisian-themed casino, classic piano sets at Crooners Bar, and cigar pairings in the Churchill Lounge.
For quieter moments, Island Princess features the luxury Enclave thermal suite, the adults-only Sanctuary retreat, and the open-air Retreat Pool equipped with private plush cabanas. Active and leisure facilities include a full-service spa, an oceanview fitness center, a open-air sports deck, dedicated youth and teen club spaces, a quiet library, an art gallery, and an onboard wedding chapel. A major refit added 121 new staterooms, expanding overall capacity and refreshing public venues.
Stateroom categories range from comfortable inside cabins to bright oceanview rooms and spacious suites featuring private teak balconies. The ship is an ideal choice for couples and families exploring iconic destinations across the Caribbean, Alaska, and the Panama Canal.
