Norwegian Sky is a Sun-class cruise ship owned and operated by Norwegian Cruise Line. She entered service on August 9, 1999, with her maiden voyage from Dover to Norway. The ship carries around 2,000 guests, which places her among the mid-sized ships. Her story is unusual. She was originally ordered by Costa Cruises as Costa Olympia from the Bremer Vulkan shipyard in Germany, but was completed in 1999 by Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven for Norwegian Cruise Line under the name Norwegian Sky. Between 2004 and 2008, she sailed as Pride of Aloha for NCL America. When Norwegian Sky was introduced, the cruise industry adopted the new concept of "freestyle cruising" that freed guests from fixed formal dining times, with relaxed attire and several distinct dining options.

Aboard Norwegian Sky, the atmosphere is relaxed and built for unwinding. The ship has 1,002 staterooms in 27 categories, ranging from inside cabins to balcony rooms and suites. There are two main dining rooms, casual cafes, a buffet, and quick-service options, all complimentary. Specialty restaurants include Le Bistro for French cuisine and La Cucina for Italian, with classic dishes like veal scaloppini and traditional pastas. Cagney's Steakhouse serves certified Angus beef cuts, and the Pinnacle Lounge and Sushi Bar offer fresh sushi choices. The bar scene remains vibrant across the vessel. Bars and lounges range from casual pool bars to upscale social lounges, with freshly muddled drinks at Sugarcane Mojito Bar and cold draft beers at Champs Bar overlooking the main pool deck.

For activities and entertainment, the ship offers relaxation in five hot tubs, including one dedicated for youth, and showstopping evening entertainment at the two-story Stardust Theater. Two large outdoor pools feature plenty of loungers and a lengthy poolside bar setup. The Mandara Spa offers signature body massages, high-performance facials, and acupuncture treatments. The Pulse Fitness Center has floor-to-ceiling windows, offering daily exercise, aerobics, and spinning classes.

Norwegian Sky suits couples and guests who appreciate a mid-sized ship with a relaxed pace, plenty of dining choices, and an unpretentious onboard vibe throughout every journey.
