Majestic Princess is a Royal class cruise ship operated by Princess Cruises and was delivered by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri in March 2017. She entered the fleet as the third Royal class ship and carries around 3,560 passengers, placing her in the large ship category. She was originally designed with the Chinese market in mind, incorporating facilities and amenities intended to appeal to Chinese guests.
The ship carries the Chinese name Shèngshì Gōngzhǔ Hào, translated as “Grand World” or “Grand Spirit”, a name selected by Chinese employees of Carnival Corporation. She was christened in Shanghai on 9 July 2017 by basketball player Yao Ming and his wife, Ye Li. Much of her design is shared with sister ships Royal Princess and Regal Princess, combining spacious public areas with a wide choice of places to dine, relax and spend time together.
At the centre of the ship is a multi level atrium that acts as a social hub, while the SeaWalk extends beyond the side of the ship with a glass bottom section offering views towards the water below. Princess Live provides an interactive studio for entertainment and activities, while the Chef's Table Lumiere offers a more intimate setting for private dining. The Hollywood Club has a lounge atmosphere with comfortable seating and contemporary décor.
Dining includes Crown Grill and The Catch by Rudi, a seafood focused restaurant created by chef Rudi Sodamin. Harmony brings a Chinese dining option to the ship, with a menu developed by Michelin starred chef Richard Chen. Other familiar Princess features include Movies Under the Stars, the adults only Sanctuary and a selection of indoor and outdoor dining venues.
Majestic Princess also retains several touches connected with her original Chinese market focus. Guests can find activities such as Tai Chi at sea and ballroom dancing, along with Chinese satellite television alongside the ship's broader international entertainment programme. Accommodation includes 1,780 staterooms across 38 categories, with most outside cabins offering private balconies.
Majestic Princess suits families, couples and cruisers who enjoy having plenty of choice on a large ship, with a mix of speciality dining, entertainment, outdoor spaces and quieter areas for relaxing.
