Emerald Princess is a Crown class cruise ship operated by Princess Cruises. She entered service in April 2007 and carries around 3,080 guests, placing her in the large ship category. Built at Fincantieri's Monfalcone shipyard in Italy, she is a sister ship to Ruby Princess and Crown Princess. Her christening took place in Greece on 13 May 2007, with Florence Henderson, Marion Ross, Erin Moran and Susan Olsen, known for their roles in The Brady Bunch and Happy Days, serving as christeners.
Life on board centres around the Piazza style atrium, a popular gathering place with the International Café and Vines wine bar nearby. Guests can stop for coffee, warm cookies, toasted paninis or sushi, making the area an easy place to settle in between activities. The ship also offers a choice of dining venues, including three main restaurants, Crown Grill steakhouse, Salty Dog Gastropub and SHARE by Curtis Stone, along with several more casual options.
Entertainment covers a broad range of interests. The Princess Theater hosts evening shows, while Skywalkers Nightclub provides a livelier setting after dark. Movies Under the Stars brings films outdoors, while the adults only Sanctuary offers a quieter place to relax. Guests can also find a casino, Lotus Spa and Fitness Center, children's and teenagers' facilities and a wedding chapel.
Accommodation includes a wide choice of inside cabins, balcony staterooms and suites. Nearly 900 staterooms have balconies, giving a large proportion of guests their own outdoor space and a chance to enjoy views of the sea from their cabin. The range of accommodation makes the ship suitable for different types of holidays, from couples looking for a balcony retreat to families needing more room.
Emerald Princess suits families, couples and solo travellers who want a large ship with plenty of dining and entertainment choices. There is enough going on to keep active guests occupied, while quieter spaces provide an easy escape when it is time to slow down.
