Liberty of the Seas is a Freedom class cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International that entered service in May 2007. Built at the Aker Finnyards shipyard in Finland, she accommodates around 3,600 guests, placing her in the mid sized category. She was christened by Toronto travel agent and charity founder Donnalea Madeley, whose work with Hands Across the Nations was recognised during the naming ceremony.
At the centre of the ship is the Royal Promenade, a lively three deck boulevard lined with cafés, bars and boutiques that serves as a popular meeting place throughout the day and evening. Over the years, Liberty of the Seas has received several upgrades that have added even more choice for guests. These include the family friendly Splashaway Bay water park, The Perfect Storm waterslides, an outdoor cinema screen by the main pool, and popular venues such as The Lime and Coconut, Izumi Teppanyaki, El Loco Fresh and an escape room attraction.
Dining offers plenty of variety, with around 15 restaurants and casual eateries to choose from. Guests can enjoy traditional meals in the main dining room, quick bites in the buffet, or speciality dining that includes Mexican, Japanese and Italian cuisine. Numerous cafés, lounges and bars provide welcoming places to relax with a drink or catch up with friends throughout the day.
Entertainment continues well into the evening, with large scale theatre productions, live music, comedy and vibrant nightlife across the ship. Guests can also spend time at the casino, browse the onboard shops or unwind in the full service spa. Families are well catered for with dedicated children's facilities and water play areas, while adults can enjoy quieter spaces when they want to slow the pace.
Accommodation ranges from comfortable inside cabins to oceanview and balcony staterooms, along with spacious suites that include additional benefits. Throughout the ship, colourful murals by artist Clarissa Parish add character to many of the public spaces, giving Liberty of the Seas a distinctive personality. She is an excellent choice for families, couples and groups looking for a mid sized ship that combines exciting attractions, varied dining and lively entertainment with plenty of comfortable places to relax.
