Norwegian Sun is a Sun-class cruise ship operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, entering service in 2001 during a dual christening ceremony at the Port of Miami with Norwegian Star. She carries around 1,950 guests, placing her in the mid-sized category. She was constructed at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany. Norwegian Sun is the third and final ship of this design.

Norwegian Sun was NCL's first ship designed specifically for Freestyle Cruising, offering flexible dining with no fixed times or dress codes. Guests can enjoy gourmet cuisine, sample innovative dishes at Le Bistro, or dine in the two main restaurants, Four Seasons and Seven Seas, both offering flexible seating. A wide assortment of complimentary and specialty dining ranges from Cagney's Steakhouse and the Italian ristorante La Cucina to the top-deck Great Outdoors buffet. On board, you can find up to twenty-two unique bars and lounges.

Entertainment and leisure include numerous dining options, a variety of bars and lounges, the relaxing Mandara Spa, and the always-exciting Casino. The ship has two swimming pools, five outdoor Jacuzzis, and a main theater for live shows. A 2011 refurbishment brought bright new decor, upgraded accommodations including all thirty-three suites, and enhanced public areas.

Staterooms total 968 across thirty-two grades, including fifty-two Suites, 380 Balcony, 213 Oceanview, and 293 Inside cabins. All Suites and Balcony cabins feature floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening to a private veranda with lounge furniture. Owner Suites have separate living and dining rooms, a master bedroom, a balcony with a whirlpool, and a full bathroom with a whirlpool bathtub and shower.

During a 2016 drydock, Norwegian Sun was retrofitted with new exhaust gas cleaning systems, with upgraded technology reducing emissions significantly. Norwegian Sun works well for leisure guests who value a relaxed, informal approach to dining and entertainment on a ship of moderate size, suited equally to couples, families, and solo guests.
