Carnival Sunshine

Carnival Sunshine is a mid-sized cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. Originally built as Carnival Destiny, she entered service in 1996 and made history as the first passenger ship ever to exceed 100,000 gross tons. Following an extensive 155 million dollar transformation in 2013, she was renamed Carnival Sunshine, carrying around 3,000 guests across her ocean voyages.

The ship was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy and was christened in Venice in November 1996 by Lin Arison, wife of Carnival founder Ted Arison. The vessel represents a groundbreaking moment in maritime history as the first ship of her kind to break the 100,000-ton barrier, holding the distinction of being the world's largest passenger ship until 1998.

Following her complete 2013 overhaul, the ship emerged with updated amenities while preserving her core identity. The central hub of the vessel is the Sunshine Atrium, a dramatic nine-deck-high open space that serves as a main gathering point for guests. For adult relaxation, the ship features a three-deck Serenity retreat complete with comfortable recliners and a soothing waterfall.
