Viking Saturn is the tenth and final vessel in a series of ten identical small ships constructed for Viking Ocean Cruises to complete the operator's original fleet plan that commenced in twenty fifteen. Built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy, in twenty twenty-three, the small cruise ship accommodates nine hundred thirty guests and was officially named in New York City by philanthropist Ann Ziff in June of that same year.
The vessel delivers a destination-focused travel experience characterized by extended port stays, frequent overnight calls in key destinations, and minimal sea days between regional stops. Designed with an intimate boutique hotel aesthetic, the onboard spaces showcase Scandinavian decor, premium textiles, expansive lounges with leather furnishings, a curated art collection, and a complete absence of modern casino facilities.
Dining options across the cruise ship include a main restaurant, informal buffets, an alfresco terrace, specialized Italian venues, a chef's table experience, and private dining rooms. Inclusive onboard amenities encompass complimentary wireless internet access, guided shore excursions in every port of call, and complimentary beer and wine served during lunch and dinner services.
Recreational and wellness areas feature two swimming pools, a covered pool deck with a jacuzzi and grill, two onboard cinemas, a comprehensive spa and fitness complex, and an outdoor infinity pool on the Aquavit Terrace. Active passengers can utilize the full walk-around promenade deck alongside a dedicated sports deck that incorporates an outdoor walking track, exercise equipment, and designated yoga spaces.
Technical innovations throughout the design include hybrid propulsion systems, an energy-efficient hull shape with a bulbous bow, and integrated solar panels installed directly on the retractable pool cover. Staterooms feature light wood finishes, nautical color palettes, king-size beds with cashmere blankets, and private bathrooms equipped with glass-door showers, heated floors, and anti-fog mirrors.
