Flag state
Viking Venus is a mid-sized cruise ship that entered service in 2021 and carries around 930 guests. Built by Fincantieri and registered under the Norwegian flag, she belongs to a ten-ship series of identical vessels built for Viking Ocean. She was christened in the English Channel in May 2021 by journalist Anne Diamond, who used a historic Viking broad axe to break a bottle of Norwegian aquavit against her hull.
At her heart, Viking Venus embodies what Viking Ocean calls its small ship travel philosophy, offering an intimate, boutique hotel style atmosphere with signature Scandinavian decor, luxury fabrics, spacious lounges with elegant leather furnishings, gourmet cuisine and a curated art collection. Unlike most modern cruise ships, Viking Ocean vessels carry no casino, keeping the focus on cultural immersion and relaxation instead.
The dining experience sets Venus apart. Multiple venues include the main Restaurant, buffet options, alfresco dining, and specialty restaurants such as an Italian grill and a Chef's Table. A standout feature is the main dining room's floor-to-ceiling windows, which can open completely to transform the space into an outdoor eatery when weather allows.
Onboard amenities reflect the ship's all-inclusive philosophy. The Nordic Spa includes a steam room, thalassotherapy pool, hot tub, snow grotto, sauna and cold plunge pool. The snow grotto offers a distinctive spa experience where powdery snow falls from the ceiling, paired with a thermal suite designed to stimulate circulation through alternating heat and cooling. Other facilities include two swimming pools, two cinemas, a modern wellness complex, several lounges and bars, a sports deck and a theatre.
Cabins throughout blend comfort with Scandinavian style. Beds feature deluxe mattresses and linens with cashmere blankets, while bathrooms include heated floors, heated mirrors, premium toiletries, towel warmers and ample storage.
The ship offers a destination-focused cruising experience, with fewer days at sea, longer port stays and more overnight calls in key destinations. Onboard amenities come fare-inclusive, covering complimentary Wi-Fi, free shore excursions, and wine and beer at lunch and dinner. Venus suits travellers who value cultural depth, Scandinavian design, and the thoughtful details that set a smaller ship apart from the floating resort experience.
