Carnival Magic

Carnival Magic is a Dream class cruise ship that entered service on 1 May 2011. She can accommodate more than 6,000 people in total, placing her firmly in the large ship category. Built by Fincantieri in Italy, she was named and christened in Venice by her godmother, Lindsey Wilkerson Alsup, a former patient and current employee of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

As the second Dream class ship, Carnival Magic shares the broad design of her class while having some features of her own. One of the most visible is the SkyCourse ropes course, positioned forward of the funnel and giving active guests a two level challenge above the decks. Ocean Plaza provides a central space for food and entertainment, while The Lanai runs around the outside of the ship as a scenic promenade.

Food and drinks are a big part of the onboard atmosphere. Carnival Magic introduced Cucina del Capitano, an Italian restaurant serving dishes inspired by the food associated with Carnival’s captains. RedFrog Pub provides a relaxed setting for drinks, while Guy’s Burger Joint offers burgers created in collaboration with chef Guy Fieri. Alchemy Bar focuses on cocktails, and BlueIguana Tequila Bar serves frozen tequila drinks alongside Mexican beers. The main dining rooms offer flexible seating options for more traditional meals.

There is plenty to keep active guests occupied, with three swimming pools, including one with a retractable roof, and eight outdoor Jacuzzis. SportSquare provides an outdoor recreation area with sporting activities and fitness facilities, while the ropes course adds another option for those looking for a challenge. A piano bar provides a quieter form of entertainment, with live music and opportunities for sing alongs.

Cabins range from inside rooms to ocean view cabins, balconies and suites. Some Deluxe Ocean View rooms can accommodate up to five guests, while a Grand Suite provides additional space, a large balcony, VIP check in and a dressing area with vanity. The Serenity Adult Only Retreat offers a quieter space away from the busier parts of the ship.
