MS Westerdam is a Vista-class cruise ship owned by Holland America Line. Built in 2004, she carries around 1,975 guests, placing her firmly in the mid-sized category. She is the third ship of the class to be operated by the line, as well as being the third ship to bear the name Westerdam. MS Westerdam was christened in Venice, Italy by Dutch actress Renée Soutendijk.
MS Westerdam is built around the generous use of glass and natural light, a signature of the Vista class. Accommodation includes 984 staterooms across thirty categories, with most ranging from 170 to 205 square feet. The mix includes 162 suites, 479 balcony cabins, 181 ocean-view, and 162 inside cabins. Recent refits have kept the ship refreshed, with upgrades to public spaces and suites throughout the vessel.
Dining is a strong point aboard Westerdam. The ship's Italian speciality restaurant, Canaletto, features traditional comfort food, while the ship also features Lincoln Center Stage and Billboard Onboard venues for live music. Guests may attend flower-arranging demonstrations, computer classes, and hands-on workshops in the Culinary Arts Center, with interactive cooking shows led by the ship's chefs or visiting experts from culinary partnerships. The ship offers both set dining and open seating at its various restaurants.
Entertainment and activity spaces are widespread. The Crow's Nest features a newly added bandstand stage for intimate performances, along with upgraded lighting and audio systems that accommodate small-scale live music and speaking engagements. Westerdam features an ocean-view pickleball court plus activities ranging from casino games and board games to wellness, as well as daily expert-led sessions in painting, drawing, crafting, and writing. Youth programs keep younger guests engaged with arts, sports, games, and themed parties, while adults can retreat to quiet sun decks.
The ship offers a range of pools and spa facilities for relaxation. MS Westerdam offers serene pools, relaxing hot tubs, spa Hydropool access, and an adults-only Sea View Pool.
