MS Koningsdam

MS Koningsdam is a Pinnacle class cruise ship operated by Holland America Line. She entered service in April 2016 and carries around 2,650 guests in 1,331 staterooms, placing her in the large ship category. She is the lead ship of the Pinnacle class and was the first Holland America ship to carry a name associated with the King of the Netherlands. Her sister ships are Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam. Queen Máxima of the Netherlands christened the ship at Port Rotterdam in May 2016.

Music is woven into the character of Koningsdam, from the names and decoration of public spaces to the range of live entertainment. A three deck atrium is topped by a large skylight and centred on a stainless steel sculpture inspired by a string quartet. The World Stage theatre uses a two story panoramic LED screen to surround performances with changing visual effects. Other venues focus on different musical styles, including a Memphis inspired setting for soul and rhythm and blues.

Dining provides a broad selection, with options ranging from Italian comfort food to classic steakhouse dishes. The ship also features a dining experience associated with chef Morimoto, offering a menu focused on seafood and Japanese inspired dishes. Club Orange provides guests with additional dining benefits, including priority seating and an expanded menu.

Accommodation includes a wide choice of cabins and suites, with nearly 70 per cent offering private balconies. Koningsdam has 912 verandah staterooms, ranging from standard Verandah cabins to the larger Pinnacle Suite. Family staterooms can accommodate up to five guests and include practical features such as bedside USB ports and modern bathrooms. The ship also introduced Holland America Line's first purpose built single staterooms.

The Lido Pool has a retractable glass roof, making it useful in different weather conditions. Other activities include an ocean view pickleball court, casino games, mahjong and wellness facilities. Younger guests aged 3 to 17 can take part in supervised arts, sports and games programmes.

Koningsdam suits families, couples and solo travellers who enjoy a large contemporary ship with music, dining and entertainment at the centre of daily life. Its varied accommodation and mix of lively and quieter spaces also make it possible to set a more relaxed pace when desired.
