Pride of America is a mid-sized cruise ship operated by Norwegian Cruise Line that holds a unique place in modern maritime history. Entering service in 2005 as the first U.S.-flagged cruise ship constructed in over 50 years, her story began when NCL acquired her partially built hull in 2002 and towed it to the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Germany for completion. She was christened at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal on June 17, 2005, by then-U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, sailing on her maiden voyage with a U.S. Capitol-donated American flag flying overhead. Accommodating around 2,200 guests at double occupancy, she is the only ship in the NCL fleet flagged in the United States, an exemption that permits her to sail roundtrip Hawaii itineraries year-round without stopping at foreign ports.

On board, the ship incorporates Hawaiian culture across her dining, decor, and entertainment. Culinary options feature regional island flavors alongside classic cruise fare, including pineapple-infused seafood dishes, short ribs, and tropical juices. Passengers can also choose from specialty venues like Jefferson's Bistro for refined French dining, Cagney's Steakhouse, and La Cucina for Italian classics. Entertainment includes live theater productions, comedy, and cultural performances highlighting traditional Polynesian music, costuming, and dance.

The ship's outdoor decks offer plenty of space for leisure, anchored by the South Beach pool complex featuring two outdoor pools and four hot tubs. Wellness facilities include the Mandara Spa with over 50 treatment options, saunas, and an oceanview fitness center. Accommodations are diverse, ranging from compact Studio cabins tailored for solo travelers to oceanview staterooms, expansive balcony cabins, and multi-room suites with dedicated butler service.

Pride of America suits couples, families, and solo travelers seeking an immersive Hawaiian island-hopping experience on a mid-sized ship with a distinctly American crew and atmosphere. Keep a record of your Pride of America cruise using The Cruise Globe.
