MSC Grandiosa is a large Meraviglia Plus-class cruise ship operated by MSC Cruises, entering service in November 2019. Constructed by Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, she was the first of three Meraviglia Plus-class vessels built for the line. The ship was officially christened in Hamburg by legendary Italian actress Sophia Loren, continuing a long-standing tradition for MSC's flagship rollouts. She accommodates 6,334 guests across 2,421 staterooms, delivering an expansive ocean resort experience.
The defining feature of the ship is her sense of scale and open public spaces. At the center of the interior layout sits a double-deck entertainment promenade topped by a "digital sky" LED dome ceiling displaying animated visual shows. The promenade connects to a two-level indoor amusement area and an outdoor water park. Outdoor leisure centers around four swimming pools, including the 25-meter Atmosphere Pool, the indoor Bamboo Pool, and the aft Horizon Pool. Wellness facilities feature the MSC Aurea Spa complex, the largest in the MSC fleet, which includes twenty treatment rooms and an expansive thermal suite. Environmental technology includes a selective catalytic reduction system that reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by 80 percent and a closed-loop exhaust gas cleaning system that cuts sulfur emissions by 97 percent.
Dining options span a variety of global styles and specialty venues. Options include Butcher's Cut steakhouse, a pastry bar and creperie by pastry chef Jean-Philippe Maury, a sushi and teppanyaki restaurant, and a multi-station buffet. Evening entertainment is anchored by the Carousel Lounge, which hosts 12 weekly Cirque du Soleil-style production shows enhanced by 80 kinetic LED lights. All guest decks on board are named after world-renowned painters.
Accommodations provide a wide range of layout options, with approximately 75 percent of all cabins featuring private step-out balconies. Options include 95 MSC Yacht Club Suites with 24-hour butler service, 15 Interior Studios for solo travelers without a single supplement, and 60 accessible staterooms.
MSC Grandiosa suits families and first-time cruisers looking for a modern, feature-packed ship with diverse dining choices, high-energy entertainment, and abundant space. Log your voyages aboard MSC Grandiosa on The Cruise Globe.
