MSC Divina is a large Fantasia-class cruise ship operated by MSC Cruises, entering service in May 2012. Built at the STX Europe shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, she was constructed as the third of four Fantasia-class vessels, expanding on her earlier sister ships with an increased length and 100 additional staterooms. She carries approximately 3,502 guests at double occupancy alongside an international crew of nearly 1,400.
The vessel holds a unique place in the fleet due to her late renaming during construction. Originally designated as MSC Fantastica, the cruise line renamed the ship to honor legendary screen icon Sophia Loren, who officialized her role as godmother during the christening ceremony on May 26, 2012. Mrs. Loren even assisted in designing the Sophia Loren Royal Suite on Deck 16, which features rich red accents and a replica of her personal dressing table.
At the heart of the ship sits the Divina Atrium, a multi-story gathering space anchored by dramatic Swarovski crystal staircases. The interior public areas evoke a classic Mediterranean feel, including a real stone piazza, the Casino Veneziano, and the 1,600-seat Pantheon Theatre hosting full-scale production shows. Dining spans multiple venues, including the two-tier Black Crab restaurant serving regional Italian menus, casual pizzerias, a sports bar with bowling lanes, and specialty dining concepts.
For relaxation, the MSC Aurea Spa offers traditional Balinese wellness treatments, saunas, and steam rooms. Higher up on Deck 18, the Top 18 Solarium provides an adults-only sanctuary with dedicated spa services and fresh fruit skewers served poolside. Guests seeking an exclusive retreat can book the MSC Yacht Club, a private ship-within-a-ship enclave forward that offers 24-hour butler service, a dedicated lounge, and a private pool deck. Accommodations are expansive across all tiers, with over 80 percent of the 1,751 staterooms offering ocean views and the majority featuring private step-out balconies.
MSC Divina suits couples, families, and travelers looking for a large ship with an elegant atmosphere, extensive dining options, and classic European style. Save your journey on MSC Divina to your map on The Cruise Globe.
