Queen Victoria is a Vista class cruise ship operated by Cunard that entered service in December 2007. Named after the former British monarch Queen Victoria, she accommodates around 2,000 guests, making her a mid sized ship. She was officially named by Camilla, then Duchess of Cornwall, continuing Cunard's long tradition of having members of the Royal Family name its ships. During the ceremony, the ceremonial champagne bottle famously failed to break on the first attempt before a second bottle completed the christening.
From the moment guests step into the impressive triple height Grand Lobby, Queen Victoria reflects the elegance of a classic ocean liner. Rich wood panelling, sparkling chandeliers, intricate mosaics and sweeping staircases create an atmosphere inspired by the golden age of sea travel. Throughout the ship, spacious public rooms and wide promenade decks encourage a slower, more traditional style of cruising that has become a hallmark of the Cunard fleet.
Dining is one of the ship's defining features. Queen Victoria has four main dining rooms, each linked to different accommodation categories. The Britannia Restaurant takes inspiration from the famous Orient Express, while Britannia Club offers a more intimate setting. Princess Grill and Queens Grill provide an elevated dining experience with carefully prepared menus and attentive service. Guests can also enjoy speciality dining at The Verandah, where premium seafood and steaks take centre stage.
Entertainment and relaxation continue the ship's classic character. The three deck Royal Court Theatre hosts a varied programme of performances, while the elegant library stretches across two decks and holds thousands of books, making it one of the finest libraries at sea. The Winter Garden, with its retractable glass roof, provides a peaceful place to unwind, and the open decks feature traditional games such as shuffleboard and deck quoits alongside swimming pools and comfortable seating areas.
Accommodation ranges from comfortable inside staterooms to luxurious Grand Suites, with the largest suites named after famous Cunard liners including Mauretania, Aquitania and Caronia. Queen Victoria is an excellent choice for travellers who appreciate refined surroundings, classic traditions and attentive service, offering the timeless atmosphere of an ocean liner in a welcoming mid sized ship.
