Disney Magic is the first ship operated by Disney Cruise Line and the lead vessel of the Magic class. She entered service in July 1998 and was built by Fincantieri at its shipyard in Marghera, Italy. Carrying around 2,700 guests, she is a mid sized cruise ship and has remained a favourite thanks to her blend of classic styling and Disney storytelling. She was christened by Patricia Disney and has a sister ship, Disney Wonder.
The ship draws inspiration from the elegant ocean liners of the early 20th century, with an Art Deco style that gives many of her public spaces a timeless feel. Rich wood finishes, polished details and vintage touches create an atmosphere that feels refined while still being welcoming for families. Disney characters and familiar stories are woven naturally into the surroundings, giving the ship a distinctive personality without overwhelming the classic design.
Dining is one of Disney Magic's standout features. She introduced Disney Cruise Line's rotational dining concept, allowing guests to move between themed restaurants while their serving team follows them throughout the cruise. Venues include Lumiere's, inspired by *Beauty and the Beast*, Rapunzel's Royal Table with live entertainment and a lively atmosphere, and Animator's Palate, where animation and dining come together in creative ways. Adults can also enjoy a quieter meal at Palo, the ship's adults only specialty restaurant.
Entertainment is another highlight, with Broadway style productions in the Walt Disney Theatre, first run and Disney films shown in the Buena Vista Theatre, themed deck parties and a variety of lounges for evening entertainment. Younger guests have dedicated spaces for every age group, including the nursery, Oceaneer Club, Oceaneer Lab, Edge and Vibe, giving children and teenagers plenty to enjoy throughout their holiday.
Disney Magic has been carefully updated over the years while keeping her original character. A major refit in 2013 introduced new guest spaces and technical improvements, and a further dry dock in 2023 added the Soul Cat Lounge, inspired by Pixar's *Soul*, along with shore power capability. Disney Magic is well suited to families and multigenerational groups looking for a cruise that combines memorable entertainment, thoughtful service and the timeless charm of a classic ocean liner.
