Rhapsody of the Seas is a Vision-class cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International. Built in 1997, she carries roughly 2,000 guests, placing her among the mid-sized ships in the fleet. She was built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique Shipyard in St Nazaire, France, and her maiden voyage began on May 19, 1997. She is part of Royal Caribbean's Vision-class liners, with sisterships including Vision, Grandeur, Enchantment, and Legend.
The ship's most striking feature is its expanse of glass. Vision-class vessels are characterised by expansive glass skylights that allow natural light to flood the interiors. Each ship features a soaring central atrium anchored by a stylish bar that comes alive after dark, making it an ideal venue for watching aerial performances overhead.
Over the years, major shipboard upgrades have introduced new stateroom categories and expanded dining concepts across multiple decks. Guests can sample fresh sushi at Izumi, traditional family-style Italian at Giovanni's Table, or quick bites at the Park Cafe deli. The ship also features Chops Grille for prime cuts and seafood, alongside an exclusive Chef's Table experience pairing multi-course dishes with sommelier-selected wines. Public area enhancements added a poolside movie screen, dedicated loyalty lounges, interactive touchscreens, and a nursery.
For entertainment and activities, the ship offers plenty to occupy a cruise. Smaller than some of the more recently debuted cruise ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet, a Rhapsody of the Seas cruise is a great option if you crave a more intimate, curated adventure. Because of its size, it's able to dock at ports larger cruise ships cannot, especially in Europe and the Mediterranean, yet still manages to pack a punch when it comes to onboard attractions. Guests can enjoy a rock climbing wall, outdoor pools, the Vitality Spa, production shows, and vibrant nightlife lounges. Staterooms total 1,013 across twenty-four grades, including 98 Suites, 136 Balcony cabins, 372 Oceanview rooms, and 407 Inside cabins.
Rhapsody of the Seas is well-suited to leisure guests who appreciate a compact, agile vessel with diverse dining, rich entertainment, and access to unique ports. Keep your cruise history up to date by logging your voyage aboard Rhapsody of the Seas to track your total nautical miles.
