Star Pride is a small luxury cruise ship operated by Windstar Cruises. Built in Germany in 1988, she originally entered service as Seabourn Pride and took on the name Star Pride when she joined Windstar in May 2014. She now carries around 312 passengers across 156 suites.
When new, Star Pride came with a few distinctive touches, including a top deck observation lounge for stargazing and a Nautilus Room set into the hull for illuminated views of marine life below the waterline. Between 2018 and 2021, she went through a comprehensive modernization that added 50 new cabins, two new dining venues, a new spa, an infinity pool, and a fitness area. Her original seven engines were also swapped out for four newer, more environmentally friendly diesel engines.
Star Pride runs as an all-inclusive luxury vessel, with guests choosing from several inclusive dining options including AmphorA Restaurant, Yacht Club, and Sky Bar and Grill. She offers the signature Windstar experiences travellers come to expect, from deck barbecues to intimate access to smaller ports, themed sailings, and genuine interaction with local communities. Onboard activities range from local food market visits to performances by regional musicians, while public spaces include a casino, library, fitness centre, pool, and three whirlpool tubs.
Her retractable marina offers complimentary watersports equipment, and with a shallow draft of just 14 feet (4.3 m), Star Pride can reach ports that are simply out of range for larger ships, occasionally calling for a shore transfer by smaller boat when she's at anchor.
Evenings on Windstar tend to lean dressy. Guests typically enjoy two formal nights on week long cruises and three on fourteen day voyages, with tuxedos and cocktail dresses making an appearance, while other evenings stay casually stylish or casual. Travellers who'd rather skip the formality altogether can head to the Veranda Cafe for a more relaxed option.
Star Pride suits discerning travellers and couples drawn to intimacy, fine dining, and access to the smaller ports larger ships simply cannot reach.
