National Geographic Venture is a 2018-built expedition vessel operated by Lindblad Expeditions, a sister ship to National Geographic Quest from 2017. She carries 100 passengers and features an ice-strengthened hull, full stabilisation, and a relatively shallow draft of 9 feet, allowing safe navigation across a wide range of regions. Built at Washington's Nichols Brothers Boat Builders, she brings an additional deck, enhanced design, new cabin categories, and upgraded facilities compared with Lindblad's older ships, including a dedicated mudroom with lockers and snorkeling equipment.
The atmosphere aboard stays low-key and focused on active exploration. Owned and operated by Lindblad Expeditions in partnership with the National Geographic Society, Venture supports expedition-style travel with Zodiac landings and wildlife viewing across remote destinations. The lounge serves as the hub for enrichment programming, with daily lectures, media presentations from guest speakers, and port talks creating a classroom-like setting for learning, while Lindblad's Open Bridge policy lets passengers visit the navigation bridge, meet the ship's officers, and speak with the captain.
She spans 4 decks, 3 with cabins, and offers 50 staterooms in total, 22 featuring small step out balconies accessed through floor to ceiling sliding doors, plus 12 cabins arranged in 6 connecting pairs for families. Cabins stay compact but well thought out, with oceanview windows and modern amenities throughout. The Main Dining Room offers single seating at unassigned tables, with meals built from fresh, local, and sustainably sourced ingredients wherever possible, and a fitness centre offers treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical machines, free weights, and regular exercise classes.
The ship carries a remotely operated vehicle capable of diving to 1,000 feet, alongside wetsuits, snorkeling gear, underwater cameras, a hydrophone, a glass-bottomed boat, sea kayaks, paddleboards, a fleet of Zodiacs, and a video microscope, with complimentary snorkeling gear provided in warm-weather destinations.
National Geographic Venture suits curious travellers after genuine exploration in intimate company, with plenty of room on deck to watch wildlife and coastline drift by.
