National Geographic Endeavour 2 is a small, ice strengthened expedition vessel carrying 96 guests. Built in Chile in 2005, she originally sailed as Via Australis for an expedition cruise line operating in Patagonia. Lindblad Expeditions acquired her in 2016 and completed a 10 million dollar refurbishment before redeploying her to the Galapagos Islands.
Designed for expedition cruising in challenging environments, her ice strengthened hull gives her the resilience to navigate safely even in rough waters. She has 53 staterooms across five decks, all outside facing with either portholes or picture windows, made up of 42 doubles and 11 studios, a mix that suits couples, families, and solo travellers alike.
Dining takes place in a single main dining room with unassigned seating, with menus blending international dishes with Ecuadorian influences. Onboard, guests will find a fitness centre, a library, a lounge with panoramic windows, and a bar and sun deck. What sets this ship apart is her focus on active exploration. She carries wetsuits, snorkeling gear, underwater cameras, a glass bottomed boat, sea kayaks, and a fleet of Zodiacs for landings and marine wildlife encounters, while Lindblad's Open Bridge policy gives guests 24 hour access to the navigation bridge to meet and talk with the officers and captain.
Each voyage travels with a full time doctor, photo instructor, video chronicler, wellness specialist, and undersea specialist. Their presence turns the daily routine into something more purposeful than typical shipboard life, and reflects Lindblad Expeditions' partnership with National Geographic, which brings genuine scientific and educational depth to every sailing.
National Geographic Endeavour 2 suits adventurous travellers who want to get close to the Galapagos ecosystem, with plenty of hands-on time in the water and on shore, guided throughout by knowledgeable expedition staff.
