Mein Schiff 5 is a mid-sized cruise ship operated by German line TUI Cruises. Constructed by Meyer Turku Shipyard in Finland, she was launched on January 15, 2016, following a 14-month construction period, and officially christened on July 15, 2016, in Lübeck Bay near Travemünde, Germany. Carrying around 2,500 guests alongside a crew of 1,000, she shares a nearly identical layout with her three sister ships, Mein Schiff 3, 4, and 6. Tailored to the German-speaking premium market, the main languages spoken on board are German and English. Her overall architecture was brought to life by a collaborative design team, with Wilson Butler Architects handling the open deck spaces, public areas, main theater, and concert hall, while CM Design and Tillberg Design directed the interior layout and cabin styling.
Onboard leisure amenities span balanced deck spaces, featuring three outdoor hot tubs and two primary swimming pools, including a signature 25-meter outdoor pool alongside a two-level covered pool for all-weather swimming. Guests can access a full wellness spa complex, sauna, beauty salon, and fitness center. Nightly mainstage entertainment centers on the main theater, which is equipped with dynamic LED screens and a revolving stage to present acrobatic performances, variety shows, musicals, and opera. Environmental efficiency is also integrated throughout her operations, utilizing advanced technologies to consume roughly 30 percent less energy than comparable vessels in her class.
Dining features a generous all-inclusive approach, with most food, beverages, and gratuities included within the cruise fare across 11 total restaurants and bistros alongside 12 bars and lounges. Primary complimentary dining takes place in the multi-concept Atlantik restaurant, which is divided into Klassik, Brasserie, and Mediterran sections. Guests can also choose from casual eateries such as the GOSCH Sylt seafood venue, Osteria pizzeria, and several onboard cafés.
Accommodations span 1,267 staterooms across 23 distinct categories, ranging from inside and oceanview rooms to 80 spacious suites, with 80 percent of all cabins offering private step-out balconies.
Whether you are vacationing as a family, sailing as a couple, or taking your very first cruise, Mein Schiff 5 delivers a refined mid-sized experience. Its blend of high-end design, diverse culinary options, and versatile spaces caters equally well to high-energy activities and quiet relaxation.
