Azura is a cruise ship operated by P&O Cruises that entered service in April 2010. She was named by the celebrated British ballerina Darcey Bussell and was built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy. As a Ventura class ship, part of the wider Grand class family, she accommodates around 3,100 guests across 1,557 staterooms, making her one of the line's large ships. Together with her sister ship Ventura, Azura was designed with British holidaymakers in mind, giving her a familiar atmosphere that has remained popular over the years.
Life on board centres around a wide choice of places to relax, dine and be entertained. Food plays a major role, with 11 dining venues ranging from casual options to elegant restaurants. The two deck Meridian Restaurant is a highlight, featuring a striking glass design and an impressive central staircase that creates a memorable setting for dinner. Guests can also enjoy 12 bars and lounges, four swimming pools and six outdoor whirlpools, offering plenty of space to unwind throughout the day.
One of Azura's best known features is SeaScreen, the outdoor cinema located in front of the ship's funnel. Introduced when the ship entered service, it was the first outdoor cinema on a P&O Cruises ship and remains one of her most recognisable attractions. The spacious atrium, complete with a dance floor, provides a lively focal point indoors, while the ship also offers spa cabins with convenient access to the wellness area, single cabins for solo travellers and a large selection of balcony accommodation across a wide range of categories.
A 2015 refit added the distinctive Union flag artwork to the bow, giving Azura an appearance that stands out wherever she visits. In 2017, she also became the first cruise ship to host same sex weddings at sea, with ceremonies conducted by the captain under Bermudian marriage law. Azura appeals to a wide variety of travellers, including families, couples, solo guests and those celebrating special occasions, offering a classic British style cruise with plenty of choice, comfortable surroundings and a welcoming atmosphere.
