Celebrity Equinox is a Solstice class cruise ship built by Meyer Werft in Germany and entered service in July 2009. She carries around 2,900 passengers, putting her in the mid sized category. She is a sister ship to Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Silhouette and Celebrity Reflection. Equinox was christened in Southampton by Nina Barough, founder and CEO of the Walk the Walk breast cancer charity.
One of the ship’s most distinctive spaces is the Lawn Club, a real grass lawn on the top deck between the funnels. It provides an unusual outdoor setting where guests can relax, take in the sea views and watch glass blowing demonstrations. Following a major modernization in 2019, the Lawn Club gained private alcoves and a large outdoor LED movie screen, adding more ways to use the space after dark.
Food and drinks are central to the onboard offering, with ten dining venues covering a range of styles. Chef Daniel Boulud, Celebrity’s Global Culinary Ambassador, creates signature dishes for Luminae and the Chef’s Table experience. Tuscan Grille focuses on handmade pasta and prime meats, Murano serves French cuisine, and Sushi on Five offers hand rolls and sashimi. Craft Social adds craft beer and comfort food, while Slush provides frozen cocktails beside the pool. Suite guests have access to Luminae, a private restaurant where meals are created by Chef Daniel Boulud.
Entertainment ranges from theatre productions to activities aimed at younger guests. The Equinox Theatre hosts two shows each evening after dinner, while Camp at Sea gives children opportunities to take part in art, culinary, recreation and STEM activities. Adults can spend time at the outdoor pool deck, visit the spa or retreat to the Solarium, where waterfalls and a heated pool provide a quieter setting. The Retreat also includes an adults only sundeck with a full size pool, two Jacuzzis, private cabanas, padded loungers and poolside bar service.
