Crystal Serenity is a cruise ship owned by Crystal Cruises, built in 2003 by Chantiers de l'Atlantique in St. Nazaire, France. She carries around 740 guests, placing her among the mid-sized ships, and was formally named on 3 July 2003 by Dame Julie Andrews in Southampton, United Kingdom. She has long operated alongside her older fleetmate, Crystal Symphony, on around the world voyages.
Crystal Serenity is a spacious ship with a calm, elegant atmosphere throughout. Interior colours run soothing, in muted tones of gold, green, blue, grey and red, while stateroom furniture and wood accents sit in darker tones, offset by colourful bedding, curtains, upholstery and wall coverings. The ship holds four restaurants, thirteen lounges and bars, two swimming pools, two outdoor jacuzzis and eight elevators.
Complimentary onboard amenities include all beverages, including alcohol, gratuities, butler service for all suite guests, 24-hour in-room dining from the main dining room menu, and twice-daily housekeeping. Crystal's Aurora Spa, a newer wellness concept for the line, brings redesigned and expanded facilities with new treatments and services.
There are no inside rooms aboard. Accommodations span Crystal Penthouse Suites, Junior Crystal Penthouse Suites, Sapphire and Aquamarine Veranda Suites, Double Guest Rooms with veranda or oceanview, and newly introduced Single Guest Rooms with oceanview for solo travellers. Following a 2023 redesign, Crystal Serenity added this Single Guest Room category, offered without a single supplement.
Crystal Serenity holds the distinction of being the largest cruise ship ever to navigate the Northwest Passage, sailing from Vancouver to New York City over 28 days in 2016. She was designed in response to strong demand and carries twice as many penthouses as her sister ship, along with two paddle tennis courts instead of one, catering to more competitive players onboard.
Crystal Serenity suits refined travellers and repeat cruisers who value understated elegance, butler service in suite categories, all-inclusive amenities, and a quieter, more intimate voyage atmosphere than megaships can offer.
