MSC Sinfonia is a cruise ship owned and operated by MSC Cruises, built in 2002 and carrying around 2,000 guests, placing her in the mid-sized category. The ship was originally built for Festival Cruises as MS European Stars at a French shipyard, the last vessel completed for that now defunct line. When Festival Cruises went bankrupt, Sinfonia was sold to MSC and renamed, with her sister ship joining the fleet as MSC Armonia. In 2015, a ten-week refit added a 24-metre section with 193 extra cabins, refreshing the ship substantially and bringing her in line with the modern MSC fleet.
The ship draws inspiration from Europe's great composers, blending elegance and art with a warm Italian atmosphere, refined wood decor and classic artwork, and her decks are named after famous composers throughout. Public spaces include two main dining rooms, a self-serve buffet, a cafeteria, a two-deck showlounge, a discotheque, several bars, a casino and a library. There are no dining surcharges aboard MSC Sinfonia, since the ship carries no specialty restaurants.
Entertainment spans the Teatro San Carlo theatre with nightly shows, the Sanremo Casino, the Pasha Club Disco, and smaller venues such as the Sinfonia Lounge, which hosts live music and dancing. A fitness centre with panoramic sea views rounds out the wellness facilities. The 2015 upgrade also added an Aqua Park with waterfalls and interactive slides, along with refreshed kids' clubs equipped with toys from Chicco and LEGO.
Cabins total 975 across nine categories, including 130 suites, 94 balcony cabins, 401 oceanview and 350 inside cabins. Balcony staterooms feature sliding floor-to-ceiling doors that open onto a private veranda furnished with a round table and two chairs.
MSC Sinfonia suits couples, families and first-time cruisers looking for an affordable, well-rounded mid-sized ship with Italian character and straightforward dining at no extra cost.
