Silver Shadow is a cruise ship that entered service in 2000 and is operated by Silversea Cruises. She carries 382 passengers and has 295 crew members. This makes her a small ship. Her sister ship is Silver Whisper, and both were built by the Mariotti Shipyard in Genoa, Italy. Both of these ships were enlarged versions of the original two Silversea ships, carrying about 100 more passengers.
What sets Silver Shadow apart is her exceptional spaciousness. They both have a high space-to-passenger ratio at 74, providing more space per passenger than any other cruise ship. The passenger-to-crew ratio is also high, at 1.31 to 1. This means attentive service and plenty of room to move about without feeling crowded. There are 194 outside suites, ranging in size from 287 to 1,435 square feet, and some 80% of them feature teak balconies.
Silver Shadow operates on Silversea's all-inclusive model. Like all Silversea ships, Shadow operates with all-inclusive cruise fares and offers the highest level of luxury, service, and amenities at sea. Onboard spaces reflect a design rooted in understated elegance. The ship has 10 decks (8 passenger-accessible, 6 with cabins), 3 restaurants, 7 lounges and bars, 1 swimming pool, 2 Jacuzzis, and 5 elevators. The ship underwent a substantial renovation in 2019 that refreshed public areas and completely renovated all suites.
Because of her smaller scale and refined atmosphere, Silver Shadow tends to draw experienced cruisers who value quieter interiors and personalized service over large-scale entertainment venues. The ship attracts passengers who appreciate the balance between onboard comfort and the freedom to explore world destinations without the hustle of mega-ships.
