Ambition is a mid-sized cruise ship operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, serving as the second vessel in the British cruise line's fleet. Originally built in France and delivered in 1999 as Mistral, she previously sailed under several names including Grand Mistral for Ibero Cruises, Costa neoRiviera for Costa Cruises, and AIDAmira for AIDA Cruises. She was acquired by Ambassador Cruise Line in 2022 and underwent extensive refurbishments, including stateroom upgrades and emission reduction system installations, before entering service in May 2023. She accommodates roughly 1,200 guests across 680 staterooms, creating a classic, intimate onboard environment.
The ship was officially christened at the Port of Tyne in 2023 by British Olympic sailor Shirley Robertson OBE. Public spaces on board emphasize relaxation, social interaction, and classic maritime charm. Guests can gather in four bars and lounges, a traditional British pub, a tiered main theater for evening entertainment, or quiet areas such as the library, card rooms, and craft studio.
