Oceania Insignia was built in 1998 by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France, originally as MS R One. She is the first of the R-Class Renaissance liners and carries around 700 passengers, making her a small ship. Her sister ships are Nautica, Regatta and Sirena. Insignia has sailed under several names and operators through her history before rejoining Oceania Cruises, where she remains today.
The ship welcomes guests into a refined country club atmosphere, with a mid-size design and uncrowded ambiance that lets guests relax completely. Her decks and cabin verandas are finished with the finest teak, alongside custom stone and tilework. Standout amenities include premium china by Villeroy & Boch, silver flatware by Christofle, crystal by Riedel, and an impressive collection of contemporary and traditional artworks displayed throughout the ship.
The dining experience sits at the center of a voyage on Insignia. Every restaurant onboard is complimentary and offers open seating, so guests dine whenever suits their taste and schedule. The Grand Dining Room is decorated in rich woods, designer tapestry fabrics and oversized armchairs, exuding classic splendor. The Terrace Café keeps things informal and casual, with a flavorful roast and a pizzeria oven running at lunch. Baristas serve complimentary illy brand espressos and cappuccinos throughout the day, centrally located near the Grand Dining Room.
For evening entertainment, guests can enjoy high-energy production shows, talented vocalists, classical music, or stop by the lively Monte Carlo-style casino. The classic library holds more than 2,000 books and periodicals. Most cabins are balcony staterooms sized around 175 square feet, while Owner's Suites span nearly 1,000 square feet and serve as quiet oases of relaxation.
Insignia suits discerning travelers and curious explorers who value intimacy over size, unhurried evenings, fine dining, and a well-stocked library as much as time ashore.
