Baltic Queen is a cruiseferry owned by Estonia based ferry operator Tallink. Officially named in December 2008 and delivered in April 2009, she was Tallink's fifth newbuilt cruiseferry and a sister ship to MS Galaxy, MS Romantika, and MS Baltic Princess. Carrying around 2,800 guests, she sits squarely in the mid sized bracket and was built at STX Europe's shipyard in Rauma, Finland, one of several Baltic newbuilds to emerge from that yard during the 2000s.
This is a working ferry with genuine character. Baltic Queen has 927 cabins totalling 2,500 berths, spread across decks 5, 8, and 9. All staterooms are air conditioned with en-suite bathrooms, available in both interior and exterior configurations. What makes the ship feel distinctive is her blend of spaces. Deck 7 hosts most of the dining venues, including the Grill House, Buffet Restaurant, Alexandra Restaurant, Italian Restaurant, Gourmet Baltic Queen, Starlight Palace Restaurant, and Pub Bar. The Sea Pub features live music on a small stage, while the Manhattan Piano Bar offers live music alongside coffee and cocktails, giving guests a choice of evening moods depending on the night.
Her hull is ice-strengthened to class 1A Super, enabling year-round operations on Baltic Sea routes even in severe ice conditions, a reminder of her role as a genuine workhorse crossing one of Europe's most demanding waters throughout the winter months. The ferry's godmother was Mea Mehtonen, daughter of a Tallink Group executive, giving the naming a genuine human touch rather than pure ceremony.
Baltic Queen suits travellers after a practical overnight passage through the Baltic, whether taken as part of a longer Scandinavian holiday or simply enjoyed for what the ship offers in her own right.
