MS Baltic Princess is a cruise ferry owned by the Estonia-based ferry operator Tallink and operated under their Silja Line brand. She was built by Aker Finnyards Helsinki New Shipyard in Helsinki, Finland, in 2008, with a maximum capacity of 2,800 passengers, 600 cars, and 75 trucks and trailers, placing her firmly in the mid-sized range. This was Tallink's fourth cruise ferry, and she began service between Helsinki, Finland, and Tallinn, Estonia on 17 August 2008, before switching to the Turku, Mariehamn, Stockholm route from 1 February 2013.
Baltic Princess was designed with both comfort and practical efficiency in mind. As a cruise ferry, she has 927 cabins, double and quad, with a maximum capacity of four passengers each and a total of 2,500 berths, spread across Decks 5, 8, and 9. All staterooms are air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms, available in both inside and outside categories. Onboard spaces cater to overnight passengers and day travellers alike, with dining venues, bars, lounges, and entertainment options throughout. Her propulsion system includes four bow thrusters with a combined output of 7.2 MW, helping her handle the challenging Baltic Sea environment.
Her hull is ice-strengthened to class 1A Super, enabling year-round operations on Baltic Sea routes even in severe ice conditions, a capability essential for her role on northern Baltic routes where winter ice is a regular occurrence. Baltic Princess sits comfortably in the ferry world, large enough to handle substantial passenger and vehicle loads, yet nimble enough for the compact Baltic routes she operates.
Baltic Princess suits travellers taking overnight ferry voyages between Finland and Sweden, families making the crossing with cars, and anyone after a genuine working ferry experience with real accommodation, rather than a cruise ship built purely for leisure.
