Hanseatic Nature was built in 2019 for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and carries 230 guests. Classified as a small ship, she's one of three vessels the line used to enter the ultra luxury expedition market. Built by VARD Holdings at its shipyard in Tulcea, Romania, she holds PC6, the highest ice class available to passenger ships.
Hanseatic Nature is purpose built for exploring remote polar and tropical regions, offering five star service, refined culinary options, generous public spaces, and a number of thoughtful hidden amenities. Her ice strengthened hull is paired with advanced marine technology developed specifically for polar operations, including a FarSounder 1000 3D sonar system fitted in the bow and integrated with navigation, detecting and mapping hazards such as icebergs or shallow reefs to keep guests safer in icy waters.
Dining and socialising sit at the heart of the onboard experience. The ship offers three restaurants, a swimming pool, an outdoor jacuzzi, and a watersports Marina Platform at the aft. All cabins feature heated bathrooms with walls designed for drying parkas and towels, alongside separable beds, binoculars, rain showers, and complimentary minibars as standard. She has 18 suites with private verandas, 20 French Balcony cabins with floor to ceiling sliding windows, and 19 staterooms with fixed windows.
A real signature aboard is the Knowledge Studio, an interactive research hub where passengers explore scientific and cultural content tied to their destinations through a digital Study Wall, a touchscreen feature shared across all three new Hanseatic ships. The studio also offers Study Seats with touchscreens, Study Posters, and a dedicated microscope research area.
The ship carries 16 Zodiacs for shore excursions, underlining her role as a proper expedition vessel rather than simply a small luxury ship, and shipboard languages are English and German throughout.
Hanseatic Nature suits experienced cruisers and genuine expedition enthusiasts who value authentic exploration, expert service, and access to places larger ships simply cannot reach.
