Azamara Pursuit is a small R-Class cruise ship operated by Azamara Cruises. Built in 2001 at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, she originally entered service as R Eight for Renaissance Cruises. Before joining the Azamara fleet, the vessel also sailed as Minerva II, Royal Princess, and Adonia. Azamara acquired the ship in 2017 and launched her in August 2018 following a comprehensive drydock refit. Accommodating up to 694 passengers, she shares sistership status with Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest, as well as Oceania Cruises' Insignia, Nautica, Regatta, and Sirena.
The ship emphasizes destination immersion and personalized care, backed by a high staff-to-guest ratio of one to two. Onboard programming is intentionally streamlined to prioritize port exploration over mega-resort activities. Mainstage entertainment takes place in the intimate Cabaret Lounge, hosting live music, comedy, and cabaret performances. The Looking Glass serves as a quiet forward-facing observation lounge by day, offering complimentary afternoon tea, before transitioning into a nightspot in the evening. Cruise fares operate on an all-inclusive basis, covering bottled water, soft drinks, specialty coffees, teas, and a wide selection of beers, wines, and spirits.
Dining venues showcase a variety of regional and classic menus. Main dining centers on Discoveries Restaurant, complemented by informal buffet options at Windows Cafe. Specialty dining includes Aqualina, which serves Mediterranean cuisine, and Prime C steakhouse, which houses a wine cellar holding over 8,000 bottles.
Accommodations span inside, oceanview, and balcony staterooms completely updated during the 2018 refit with new furniture, carpets, lighting, and fabrics. Personal butler service is provided across staterooms, and approximately 93 percent of all cabins offer ocean views, with 70 percent featuring private step-out balconies.
For travelers seeking a modern ship that balances sophisticated spaces with engaging day-and-night entertainment, Azamara Pursuit hits the sweet spot. Save your past or upcoming sailing aboard Azamara Pursuit to your account on The Cruise Globe.
