World Explorer is a small expedition ship operated by Quark Expeditions. She entered service in 2019 and carries around 200 guests, a compact vessel built specifically for polar exploration in the Arctic and Antarctic. Built at the WestSEA shipyard in Portugal, she was Quark's first newbuild vessel, combining modern safety and comfort with the ruggedness needed for far-flung, ice-class voyages.

All 98 cabins are suites with step-out balconies, a thoughtful touch on a ship where cabins often feel more utilitarian. The whole design centres on the expedition experience rather than onboard bells and whistles. An Observation Lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows and an outdoor terrace offers ideal views for watching ice floes, whales, and wildlife drift past, while a library provides quieter moments, and a lecture theatre hosts expedition specialists briefing passengers ahead of landings. The Explorer Lounge serves as the ship's social hub, and a heated saltwater pool and spa facilities offer comfort between excursions ashore.

Meals take place in a single dining room with outdoor seating, keeping things sociable and intimate. Drinks and casual meals are available elsewhere onboard, and the all-inclusive nature of Quark itineraries means gratuities and most beverages come included with the fare.

What truly sets World Explorer apart is her design for genuine expedition work. She carries Zodiacs for landings and shore cruising, a helicopter landing pad for specialist operations, and ice class strengthening throughout. She also sits notably low in the water compared with many cruise ships, offering a more direct connection to the environment guests have come to see.

World Explorer suits travellers who choose polar cruising for the landscape, wildlife, and challenge rather than resort-style amenities, and who appreciate compact, sociable ship life in pursuit of remote wilderness.
