Mitsui Ocean Fuji is a Japanese cruise ship operated by Mitsui OSK Lines. She was built as Seabourn Odyssey for Seabourn Cruise Line in 2009 and carries around 450 to 540 guests, making her a small ship. Mitsui OSK Lines purchased the ship in February 2023, and she embarked on her maiden voyage under the new name from Yokohama on 1 December 2024.
Mitsui acquired this relatively small ship for her suitability for cruising Japan's scenic coastal waters. The ship's namesakes are Mount Fuji and the cruise ship Fuji Maru, which the company operated until 2013. The vessel has been refitted to reflect Japanese hospitality and design, with 11 decks holding two swimming pools, six outdoor whirlpools, a spa and a marina. The Retreat features a nine-hole mini golf course, a giant chessboard and shuffleboard.
Dining has been reimagined with Japanese inspiration throughout. Restaurant Fuji offers full-service menus curated by the ship's chefs, featuring Japanese and international cuisine. Terrace Restaurant Hachiyo, named after the eight peaks of Mount Fuji, provides diverse global dishes in an open-air setting with panoramic sea views, transforming into an omakase sushi restaurant with alfresco dining in the evenings. Hokusai Fine Dining, named after artist Katsushika Hokusai, serves refined, seasonal dishes inspired by traditional Japanese artistry.
Observation Bar 36 features panoramic views and cocktails themed after Mount Fuji's four seasons. The Ocean Stage Theater serves as the ship's main entertainment venue, hosting Broadway-style performances, lectures, and special events, with evening shows featuring professional singers and dancers. The Spa and Wellness Kodama provides massages, facials, salon services, and acupuncture treatments.
All cabins are suites, continuing the luxury standards established when she sailed for Seabourn. The atmosphere blends quiet elegance with refined service, grounded in the Japanese tradition of omotenashi. Mitsui Ocean Fuji suits discerning travelers who value boutique luxury, Japanese cultural immersion, and intimate encounters with Japan's scenic coastline.
