Victory I is a small cruise ship carrying about 200 passengers. Built in the United States and entering service in 2001, she has had a varied life, sailing under several names before joining American Queen Voyages. Formerly known as Ocean Voyager, Saint Laurent, Sea Voyager and Cape May Light, the ship was purposely built to navigate the locks and canals of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway, giving her an intimate design suited to tight waterways and quieter ports of call.
The ship has been thoughtfully reconfigured over the years. She underwent a refit repurposing four of her double cabins, reducing her passenger capacity to 202 from 210. Victory I also underwent a refit at Gulf Island in Houma, Louisiana, in 2019, where the vessel's stern was enclosed, adding shelter and interior space for passengers. Onboard, guests have access to three dining venues, including the Tuscan Stone Grill, created in collaboration with Dietmar Wertanzl of Anglo-Eastern Leisure, offering interactive, upscale meals with hot stones for table-side cooking, complemented by panoramic views from the ship's stern.
Enrichment programming is led by LakeLorians, maritime experts who partner with the National Museum of the Great Lakes to provide lectures, discussions and interactive sessions throughout the voyage, delivering a thorough exploration of regional history and culture that adds real depth to the onboard experience. Each Victory Cruise Lines itinerary includes a one-night pre-cruise hotel stay, with complimentary ground transfers to the ship and post-cruise airport transfers, and all accommodations offer water views, with veranda options available for those who want them.
Victory I suits passengers who value intimate small-ship cruising with a strong focus on destination immersion, particularly those exploring the Great Lakes and Canadian waters.
