MS Hamburg is a luxury cruise ship operated by Plantours Kreuzfahrten. Built in 1997 in Wismar, Germany, she carries 420 passengers, making her a small ship. She is owned by the Conti Group, though operational control shifted when the parent company's ownership changed in 2025.

Her compact size allows her to transit the Great Lakes in North America, where she has cruised seasonally, a route few ships her size attempt with such regularity. Previously known as MS Columbus and operated for Hapag-Lloyd, she became Hamburg under Plantours in 2012, and that heritage as a purpose-built expedition and cultural vessel still shapes her character today, alongside the German engineering tradition reflected in her Wismar construction.

She underwent an extensive refit between 2020 and 2021, which brought upgrades to cabins and public spaces. During an earlier drydocking in 2018, 42 passenger cabins were fitted with French balconies, featuring electric powered slide down windows that open onto glass railings. Dining venues include two restaurants, Alsterblick and Lido Buffet, alongside two bar lounges, Hamburg Lounge and Palmgarten. Other facilities include a library, card room and email centre, photo gallery and shop, boutique, games arcade, and wine bar. The top deck houses the Palmgarten Lounge and Bar with an outdoor terrace forward, and aft, a sun deck with loungers, deckchairs, and a swimming pool.

Her relatively low draft allows her to navigate inland waterways and sail close to shore, opening access to ports and routes that larger ships simply cannot reach, from Baltic itineraries to rivers across Canada and the United States.

MS Hamburg suits travellers after a more intimate, culturally focused cruise experience, rather than the activity-packed environment of a big ship.
