Ocean Endeavour

Ocean Endeavour is a cruise ship built in Poland in 1981. Carrying a capacity of 199 passengers, she counts as a small ship, and her history includes a spell with Kristina Cruises as Kristina Katarina from late 2010, before being sold and renamed Ocean Endeavour on 8 January 2014.

Back in 1988, the vessel underwent a major drydock refit that converted her into a proper expedition cruise ship, a transformation that reshaped her purpose entirely. Her ice strengthened hull and expedition grade design allow year round operations in high latitude waters, while a draft of just 18 feet (5.5 metres) opens up access to remote islands and coastal destinations that deeper ships simply cannot reach. This combination of compact size and shallow draft makes Ocean Endeavour particularly well suited to exploring polar regions where larger vessels have no way in.

Following her 2014 sale, she began sailing along Canada's east coast and Greenland, running Canadian Arctic cruises during the northern summer season and switching to Antarctica itineraries from Chile once the southern summer arrives. On 5 September 2019, passengers aboard Ocean Endeavour with Adventure Canada became the first members of the public to visit the wreck site of HMS Erebus, one of the two ships from the Franklin expedition that set out to traverse the North West Passage through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, a genuinely significant moment in polar exploration history that added a new chapter to her story.

As an expedition vessel, Ocean Endeavour caters to travellers after genuine polar exploration and wildlife encounters rather than resort style amenities. She suits those drawn to Arctic Canada, Greenland, and Antarctic destinations, where her ice strengthened hull and small group atmosphere add real depth to the expedition experience.
